Vans x Civilist Authentic Pro Shoes

For Vans latest collaboration, they’ve teamed up with Berlin skate store Civilist to bring you their take on the Authentic Pro.

The Civilist store Berlin found its feet in 2009, using the space of an old art gallery to sell their products out of. The idea in mind was part skate store, part street wear boutique, a place where they could hold and set up art exhibitions, product launches could happen and where like minded people could meet/hangout.

Berlin’s skateboarding scene is known for its tight knit community and the Civilist store definitely harbours that vibe.

The Vans Authentic Pro is a revamped classic, engineered with optimum skate performance in mind. Of course Vans being a Californian born and breed brand seems like a universe away from Berlin and though I guess it kind of is, the two brands ethos go hand in hand with ease: Laid back, skateboarding driven, stylish and erm, coffee and cigarettes…

That’s right, the collaboration theme is based on Civilist’s morning routine of coffee and cigarettes. Every morning they arrive at the shop, clean up the mess made by the kids from the day before, put money in the register, switch the lights on and then take a stroll to their favoured coffee spot for a freshly brewed coffee accompanied by a cigarette.

Bearing the above in mind, the Vans Authentic Pro Civilist colour-way is coffee and cigarettes, in the form of a shoe.

Clothed in a canvas upper, which resembles a sack of coffee beans, the black colour-way features an embroidered Civilist Berlin logo on its tongues, has a coffee bean printed inner-sole, comes with white laces and is complete with that timeless Waffle sole.

Cop both pairs for coffee and cigarettes any morning.
